Weaving Wellness: Delving into Vastra Dhouti for Inner Harmony and Health
Discover the Transformative Power of Vastra Dhouti: A Gentle Stomach Cleanse with Cloth
Imagine a simple yet effective way to cleanse your stomach and digestive system, leaving you feeling refreshed, revitalized, and free from impurities. Vastra Dhouti, an ancient Ayurvedic practice, offers just that!
How to Practice Vastra Dhouti:
Preparation: Obtain a soft cotton cloth that is about 2.5 cm wide and 1-3 meters long. Boil the cloth to sterilize it. Place the cloth in a bowl with a little water and honey (optional). Have a glass of water nearby.
Cloth Insertion: Sit in a comfortable position, ideally squatting if possible. Relax and breathe normally. Fold one end of the cloth to create a point. Place the pointed end in the back of your mouth and begin chewing and swallowing it slowly. Sip water as you swallow to help the cloth glide down.
Overcoming Resistance: You may experience some nausea or gagging as the cloth moves down your throat. Try to relax and continue swallowing until the sensation passes.
Stomach Cleansing: Continue swallowing the cloth until about 30 cm remains outside your mouth. Hold the remaining cloth firmly to prevent it from slipping down.
Nauli or Agnisar: Stand up and practice Nauli or Agnisar (abdominal exercises) to stimulate the stomach and intestines.
Cloth Removal: Sit back down and slowly start to pull the cloth out gently. If you feel resistance, relax and continue pulling gently. Never pull on the cloth forcefully.
Rest: Once the cloth is fully removed, lie down in Shavasana (Corpse Pose) for 10 minutes to allow your body to rest and absorb the benefits.
